Iconic Pacific Coast Highway Restaurant, Dad’s Luncheonette, Just Launched a Cookbook

Dad’s Luncheonette is an iconic stop along the Pacific Coast Highway in Half Moon Bay, so I was really excited to hear that the chef/owner, Scott Clark, was launching a cookbook recently. The book is beautiful, the recipes are creative, and it’s just very Californian in the best possible way. You can now buy it on Amazon, bookshop.org, and in local bookstores around San Francisco (as of Sunday, it was in stock at Bernal Cutlery).

Feeling inspired to take a coastal day trip? Drive to the coast around Half Moon Bay and try your hand at seaweed foraging or take a hike along the Half Moon Bay Coastal Trail. Refuel with lunch at Dad’s (of course) and bring a cooler to grab some fresh fish at the Half Moon Bay Fish Market on your way home. If you happen to be driving north at sunset, Moss Beach Distillery is a good stop for drinks on their patio overlooking the ocean—dress warm.

If You Love The Outdoors, You’ll Want to Know About Trailborn, a New(ish) Hotel Group

I’m a little embarrassed to admit that I only learned about Trailborn this week, a new hotel group focused on placing boutique hotels in the great outdoors. The company opened doors on their first property in late 2023 and just this month opened their fourth hotel in the Grand Canyon. For the month of March, they have a pretty sweet grand opening promo that includes a discounted rate ($115 - $145 per night) and $50 food credit.

Dates have yet to be announced but they also have a Mendocino, California property in the works next—stay tuned!

ICYMI, Bricoleur Vineyards is one of my favorites in Sonoma—the wine is great, they have a large property you can explore, and all of their tastings revolve around (really good!) food. They also host a lot of fun events, like the Pour + Explore pinot noir tasting this March 13th from 5:30-7:30pm.

It will include some light appetizers and tastings from 30+ vineyards for $65 per person. If it’s anything like the last event I attended there, it’ll be a lovely time.
