WILDFLOWER SEASON IS COMING

Mid-March to May Marks Wildflower Season in California—Here’s Where to See Them

Come spring, wildflowers pop up all over the state of California. Although a superbloom is not looking likely in this year’s forecast, there will still be beautiful blooms to enjoy this spring. Death Valley and Joshua Tree tend to get the most attention for their springtime flowers, but for some more underrated (and less crowded) areas, also consider:

• Mustard flowers in Napa. I especially love the trails near Lake Hennessey City, which you can hike or bike.

• Almond tree blossoms in Sacramento and Winters. Winters is also a great starting point for a road trip along Highway 128, which takes you past Lake Hennessey as you meander out to the coast.

• Twin Peaks and Glen Canyon in San Francisco. You don’t even have to leave the city to enjoy this one.

GLAMPING NER SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK

AutoCamp Opens its Newest Property Near Sequoia National Park This Spring

AutoCamp is best known for transforming retro Airstream trailers into comfortable, design-forward places to sleep under the stars. The brand started right here in California (the longest running of which is up in Guerneville) and they now have properties throughout California and the rest of the U.S.—always in a beautiful spot, and very often near national parks. Personally, I’ve only gotten the chance to stay at one of their properties, near Zion, but it was a blast.

This March, AutoCamp will be opening their doors near Sequoia National Park, but bookings are currently open for the spring/summer season. If you’ve never stayed at an AutoCamp before, this is a great opportunity to try it out at a slightly lower cost: rates for new hotels tend to be a bit lower on opening. So go ahead, book a stay. 😎

ROOFTOP COCKTAILS, ANYONE?

Timbri Hotel Opens in San Francisco—As A Local, I’m Most Excited About the Rooftop Bar

San Francisco doesn’t get a ton of hotel openings, but Hilton has just opened the doors on their Market Street property, Timbri Hotel. To be totally honest, this wouldn’t be my first recommendation for friends coming to town (the rooms are beautiful and comfy, but as a local, I don’t love the location). However! I am very into their spacious rooftop bar. There’s a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, complete with fire pits, as well as a full food and drink menu. Who wants to join me for a drink?
